Day 1

Baia Mare Airport - Hotel

- Airport shuttle (transfer) to Carpati Hotel***;

- Traditional welcome of the participants with salt, bread and the customary glass of ‘horinca”, offered by the representatives of Dream Travel Agency, dressed in folk costumes.

- Festive dinner with a short introduction to Maramureş traditions with the help of a folk show and specific food. Accommodation

Day 2

Baia Mare - Ocna Şugatag or Vadu Izei

Breakfast. Departure to Ocna Şugatag via Baia Sprie – Cavnic.

Visit of the Tartars’ Monument (Cavnic) – the terminal point of the Tartars’ invasion in Europe, The Political Prisoners’ Memorial of Cavnic Bălduţ, the Church of Suşeni, - Budeşti (paintings and books dating of 1640), Pintea Viteazu’s shirt. Lunch at Ocna Şugatag, Salina Restaurant 3*.

OPTION 1:  Spa and Salina Hotel

Enjoy thermal baths in the afternoon, Jacuzzi for 12 people, massage, and fitness. In the evening: dinner and accommodation at Salina Hotel 3*.

OPTION 2: Churches and Vadu Izei Guest House

 continuation of the journey to Vadu Izei with a stop in Surdesti, where the old church is visited (the second high wooden church in Europe, Berbesti – visit to the unique triptych dating from the 17th century. Dinner and accommodation in Vadu Izei, at Teleptean Rural Pension (3 daisies), or at Mariana Rural Pension (3 daisies).

Day 3

Ocna Şugatag Activities and Village Life

Breakfast. Outing to the Dacian Fortress (one hour walk), sprinkling water sources, (20 minutes) and visit to the sheepfold and stud farm (riding) where we will be offered a traditional lunch with specific dishes.

- In the afternoon, optional: cart driving along the village streets, fishing or swimming in the Iza River, discovering the activities in a farm (milking, mowing, haymaking), mushroom gathering, wild fruits or herbs, visit to the traditional cattle market and craftsmanship (every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) in the village.

- In the evening: dinner in the open and fire camp (weather permitting). Accommodation.

Day 4

Ocna Şugatag - Sighetu Marmaţei - Săliştea de Sus

Breakfast.

Departure for Sighetu Marmatiei where we will visit THE MEMORIAL OF PAIN and the PAUPER'S CEMETERY - Monument of the anti-communist resistance, The Museum of Architecture on Dobaes Hill (possibly Wiessel Memorial and the Village Museum).

- Departure for Sapanta where we will visit The MERRY CEMETERY (unique in the world) and the Trout fishery- where we will have lunch.

- In the afternoon: visit to Peri Monastery – the tallest wooden building in Europe (72 m). Continuation of our journey to Barsana, where we will visit the old Barsana Church, Barsana Monastery and we will talk to the famous artist from Maramureş, Mr. Toader Barsan – sculptor, from whom we can buy wooden objects.

- In the evening: dinner and accommodation in the beautiful Delia Rural Pension (3 daisies) from Săliştea de Sus.

Day 5

Săliştea de Sus - Parks and Walks - Borşa

- Breakfast. Visit to the peat bog with carnivorous plants (Hoteni), The Cock’s Crew – geologic national park, unique for its aspect. Lunch at the summer house from Perla Maramureşeana (3*) – Borsa.

- In the afternoon we will take the cable chair and we will take a short walk (20 minutes) to Horses Waterfall.

- In the evening: departure for Moisei to see and take part in a traditional wedding. Accommodation at Cerbul Hotel (*), or at Vila Ursu (3*) at Borsa Complex.

Day 6

Borşa - Viseu de Sus - Baia Mare

Breakfast at Cerbul Restaurant. Departure for Viseului Valley to Viseu de Sus, where we will take the MOCANITA (steam train from the period of WW II), along Vaser Valley – a dream location, untouched by humans, with an extremely rich fauna and flora.

At Faina station – terminus point of the railway, we will have dinner at the Hunter’s Chalet belonging to the Forest Authority, where we will enjoy ourselves tasting the venison.

- Return to Viseu de Sus (by Mocaniţa) from where we will leave for Baia Mare, have dinner and get the accommodation at Carpati Hotel(4*).

Day 7

Baia Mare - Athos Mountain - Museums

 Breakfast at Carpati Hotel. Visit to Rohia - The Athos Mountain of Lapus County where we will visit Rohia Monastery, Friar N. Steinhart’s library and the house of the poet Ioan Alexandru.

- Return to Baia Mare, where we will have lunch at Diamant restaurant – next to the city park, after which we will visit the Mineralogy Museum, unique in Europe. The History Museum and the Art Museum (time permitting).

- Optional: Open Day at Transgold - Gold Mining Company with a visit to gold and silver foundry.

- In the evening: farewell dinner and a dancing party in the belle vue of Carpati Hotel.

Notice

Time permitting, taking into account an extra day for the journey, there can also be visited

Slatioara - an isolated village, forgotten by the world, the churches of Ieud, Bogdan Voda, Runc

– Mara Dam, the fossil reservation of Chiusbaia, Cavnic, Strambu Baiut mines.

Depending on how long the trip is, we can luck out and take part in one of the annual festival days such as Tanjaua, Sambra Oilor, Hora de la Prislop (Prislop Dance), or Festivalul Nuntilor (the Wedding Festival).
